Food Security: Food security begins with keeping Utah farms and ranches viable. Utah’s family farms and ranches are disappearing at an alarming rate, and with them, an essential part of our food security. Kristen is at the forefront of efforts to strengthen local agriculture by protecting water rights, supporting the next generation of farmers and ranchers, and making it possible for family farms to remain profitable. By working directly with Utah’s agricultural communities, she is fighting to keep food production local, sustainable, and in the hands of the families who have built it.

Data Privacy: Convenience or security should not become a justification for unchecked surveillance. A free society depends on the ability to live, work, learn, and communicate without being constantly tracked. As technology becomes woven into everyday life, the ability to monitor and collect information about ordinary Utahns has expanded, from automatic license plate readers and school-issued devices to home networks and personal phones.

Kristen has sponsored legislation to establish clear limits on the government’s use, retention, sharing, and access to personal data, including repeated efforts to strengthen protections surrounding automatic license plate readers. Kristen believes Utahns deserve both transparency about how their information is being used and meaningful protection from unnecessary or unchecked government surveillance.

Taxpayer Stewardship: Government should only take money from Utahns reluctantly, spend it deliberately, and be transparent about what it is doing with it. Kristen believes Utah should keep taxes as low as responsibly possible while demanding transparency, accountability, and measurable value from government spending. She has fought tax increases at the grassroots level, helped lead the successful Utah tax referendum effort, and continues to support policies that give taxpayers greater transparency and a stronger voice in how their money is collected and spent.

Elections give the public the opportunity to choose someone to serve as their representative in government. It is important to understand the principles through which a representative approaches the issues that affect our families, communities, and state. And while words and campaign promises matter, an individual’s record of service is an even better measure of how they will represent you.

For more than 30 years, Kristen has been actively engaged in Utah’s political and legislative process, first as a citizen advocate and now as an elected representative. Throughout that time, the consistent thread has been her commitment to the Constitution of the United States and to the principle that government exists to protect individual liberty, not to unnecessarily restrict it.

As a legislator, Kristen continues to bring those principles to the Capitol: advocating for limited and accountable government, individual and parental rights, election integrity, responsible taxation, privacy, and the freedom of Utahns to make decisions for themselves and their families.

The principles that guided Kristen as a citizen advocate continue to guide her as a legislator. What has changed is her ability to put those principles into action.

Kristen Chevrier brings more than 30 years of experience in Utah’s political and legislative landscape, including more than two decades advocating for individual liberty in Utah and Washington, D.C. Today, she brings that experience directly to the Utah Legislature, where she has worked to turn those principles into meaningful legislation and lasting policy.

As House District 54 Chair, Kristen pioneered the Legislative Collaboration Committees, creating a stronger connection between legislators and delegates and encouraging open discussion on the issues that matter most to their communities. In the Legislature, she has sponsored and advanced legislation addressing data privacy, consumer protection, education, food security, and individual liberty.

Kristen’s legislative record includes HB 402, which became law in 2025 and established restrictions on certain food additives in public schools, and HB 357, which became law in 2026 and strengthened protections for motor vehicle data privacy. She has also continued to pursue legislation establishing reasonable limits on government use of automatic license plate readers, demonstrating her commitment to protecting individual privacy as technology rapidly evolves.

Kristen’s leadership extends beyond the Capitol. She has held numerous leadership roles in the Republican Party, co-founded and serves as executive director of a Utah advocacy organization focused on informed consent and consumer protection, and created “The Caucus Booklet” in both 2014 and 2024 to help Utahns understand and preserve Utah’s Caucus Convention Primary system.

Her experience has built a strong network of relationships across Utah and nationally. She continues to put those relationships, experience, and principles to work for the people of House District 54.
